A true epic sci-fi novel, other worldly, full of robust characters that evolve as they deal with a wide scope of very human situations including war, rage, art, religion, love and fear. `The Last Man' grabs your attention immediately and pulls you into its sphere - I could not put this book down.The well crafted story races forward, full of gritty action and adventure with Duriox the strong warrior leading the way. Gordon has created believable characters with depth and personality, and a believable yet fantastic world. The alien hlendi are a force that has changed the course of earth and catapulted its inhabitants into space where they are fighting for their lives and souls. I highly recommend this book - well worth the price.
